Room Additions in San Diego: Benefits of Sunrooms

room additions san diego
A sunroom is a room with many windows and sometimes a glass roof. It may be referred to as a sun porch, patio room, solarium, or garden room. It can have screened windows and be enjoyed three seasons a year or glass windows and be enjoyed all year long. If you are interested in adding a sunroom, see a company that specializes in room additions in San Diego to discuss options and design. Here are some of the benefits of a sunroom.

Outdoor Living in Comfort
A sunroom will allow you to enjoy the outdoors without being disturbed by pests, pollen, and stormy weather. It will stay much cleaner than a porch and will let you enjoy nature any time of the day. Also, you can use indoor furniture that is more comfortable than patio furniture.

Drenched With Light
A sunroom will bring in a lot of natural light and can make a small room look bigger. Light can also help treat Seasonal Affective Disorder that occurs in autumn and winter because of the diminished amount of sunlight. Natural light will improve anyone's mood any time of the year.

Useful Space
There is no end to the uses of a sunroom. It can be used for relaxing, reading, exercising, playing, watching television, or working. A sunroom is perfect for a hot tub and if it has a glass ceiling, it can be used for gazing at the stars. It can also be a greenhouse where you can tend to plants all year long.

Affordable

If you need some extra room in your house, a sunroom is a good investment. It is cheaper to build than a traditional room addition. It is also quicker to build, so you can enjoy your sunroom even sooner. Since the extra sunlight will make it appear larger than it is, and a sunroom is so versatile, you will be getting more for your money.

Tips for Choosing Interior Paint

San Diego interior painting
Flat, satin, semi-gloss, gloss — the variety of interior paints available can be mind boggling. The good news is that keeping a few simple things in mind, choosing the right paint for your project is easy. Here's how.
Know Your Finishes
Interior paint is available in four basic finishes also known as "lusters," which refers to how much light the paint reflects, or how shiny the paint is. Each luster has different qualities which make them the optimal choice for various rooms or surfaces in the house.
  • Flat. Also called "matte," a flat finish reflects the least amount of light. A flat finish is best for hiding surface imperfections, but is also harder to keep clean. The best places to use a flat finish are ceilings and low-traffic areas such as formal dining rooms.
  • Satin. Satin has a low luster and doesn’t reflect as much light as a semi-gloss finish. However, a satin finish shows imperfections more readily than a flat finish but makes up for by being easier to keep clean. Satin is ideal for family rooms, hallways and bedrooms.
  • Semi-gloss. A semi-gloss finish has a high luster and will accentuate any imperfections. However, semi-gloss holds up well under repeated scrubbing, making it perfect for kitchens and bathrooms.
  • High Gloss. Glossy finishes have the highest luster and shine. They are usually reserved for trim and accents but are also popular choices in the kitchen as high gloss, much like semi-gloss paint, is extremely durable and easy to clean.

Know Your Needs.
Which paint you use for your San Diego interior painting project depends largely on three things: how much natural light the room gets, quality, and budget. Remember that spending a little more on higher quality paint now will ensure your project looks better and won't have to be repainted later.
